From the end of September 2023, changes to River Road in Emu Plains will come into effect as part of the first stage of the Regatta Park project.

  • The Great Western Highway end of River Road has been realigned with Lamrock Street, Emu Plains. This includes relocating the River Road and Great Western Highway intersection 130 metres to be opposite Lamrock Street. New traffic lights will be in operation at this intersection.
  • The old section of River Road which runs from the southern end of Regatta Park to the Great Western Highway will be permanently closed.
  • Final works are being undertaken to connect the new section of River Road to the existing River Road. During this time, vehicular traffic along River Road will be diverted via York Street and Francis Avenue. This is expected to take up to five weeks.
  • A footpath along the new section of River Road will be open for pedestrians.
  • A roundabout has been installed on the new section of River Road to provide access to York Street, the Great Western Highway, and the Regatta Park car park. The first stage of the car park will be open at this time.
  • Access to Laughin’ Boy Café and Emu Hall Café will be via the Great Western Highway and Punt Road, or from the new Regatta Park car park.
  • Relocation of the bus stop on the corner of the old Great Western Highway and River Road intersection approximately 50 metres west on Great Western Highway.

These changes are anticipated to increase pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow along River Road and provide better access to the Great Western Highway for residents and visitors.

Please observe all traffic changes as they come into effect.

Thank you to the community for your patience and understanding while these works have been undertaken.
