Council appoints contractor to design and deliver the pathway

27 March 2024

The long-awaited pedestrian pathway on Nepean Avenue is a step closer after Penrith City Council appointed a contractor to complete the detailed design and construction of the project.

Axial Construction Pty Ltd has been selected through a tender process and they will now begin the detailed design process and start preparing to construct the pathway, which will run between Tench Reserve and Memorial Avenue.

Feedback received from the community during the consultation on the draft design in mid-2023 will inform the detailed design. Several changes will be incorporated including:

  • Type, number and placement of new trees.
  • Number and placement of lighting bollards along the pathway.
  • Minor modifications to the travel lane dimensions.

Updates about the construction milestones and any disruptions or pedestrian detours will be communicated by Council, including on this Your Say Penrith web page. Make sure you select to ‘Follow’ the project to be alerted to project updates.

Axial Construction will also have a dedicated community liaison who will work closely with Nepean Avenue residents throughout the construction to minimise disruptions.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Penrith City Council.
