Council worked with a group of talented young students from St Marys South Public School to help design a new playspace for Monfarville Reserve, as part of the Penrith Mayoral Challenge.

Completed playspace!

The new playspace at Monfarville Reserve, St Marys is complete!

  • 2 in-ground joey trampolines
  • 3 swing bay – including an infant and nest swing
  • Balance trail
  • Yarning circle seating
  • Shade sail
  • Picnic shelter with accessible picnic setting
  • Accessible seating with companion space beside for pram or wheelchair
  • Water drinking fountain
  • Bike racks
  • Accessible pathways
  • New tree plantings

Community consultation

We conducted community consultation from Wednesday 28 May until Sunday 23 June 2024, to find out what the community would like to see in their new playspace. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback! Your ideas will be valuable to help us shape the design for this playspace.

Park designers in action!

The talented students at St Marys South Public School have impressed us with their creativity and teamwork in designing a brand-new playspace for their local community. Throughout a series of workshops with Penrith City Council staff, the students eagerly took on the challenge of designing a playspace concept while developing skills in leadership, community engagement, teamwork, decision-making, budgeting, First Nations Cultural Heritage and inclusion.

Check out these future park designers in action! Stay tuned to see the innovative design they will present to Councillors at an upcoming Ordinary Meeting.
