Penrith City Council is inviting young people aged 12 to 24yrs who live, work, learn or play in Penrith to help design a vibrant new mural for the Youth Zone at the Gipps Street Recreation Precinct.

The mural is for the large 11-metre wall that sits behind the half-court. This blank canvas offers an exciting and highly visible space for an artwork that reflects the energy, creativity and diversity of local young people.

We'll be collecting ideas and inspiration from young people online and at a workshop. The workshop, held over 2 days in January, will be led by artists Daniel Walton and Scott Nagy who have strong experience in youth engagement. Ideas gathered will be used to help shape the mural design.

Painting will take place in March 2026 ahead of the mural’s official launch during Youth Week celebrations between 16 to 26 April 2026.

Young people can share their ideas in two ways:

Attend a free 2-day design workshop

A 2-day design workshop will be held in the January 2026 school holidays. This free workshop will guide participants through exploring themes, stories and colours that will inspire the mural design.

Times: 3:30pm to 5:30pm (finish time is approximate)
📍Location: Amenities Building, Gipps Street Recreation Precinct, 34 Gipps Street, Claremont Meadows
