Jamisontown residents to get flying fox in playspace upgrade

12 December 2023

The playspace in the reserve between Willoring Crescent and Harris Street, Jamisontown, is being replaced with an exciting new playspace for families and children to enjoy.

Two draft design concepts were shared with the community and the most popular choice was selected for the final design.

It features a variety of equipment for younger and older children including:

  • 25-metre flying fox with launching platform
  • large multi-play unit with a variety of climbing features
  • swing set including a basket swing, tango swing, infant swing and slash swing
  • inclusive airplane springer
  • balance trail
  • play café shop front
  • meerkat-shaped musical play panel
  • play speedboat with seats and dashboard
  • flower talk tube

Two shaded picnic tables, bench seating, shade sails, pathways, and landscaping will also be included in the upgrade.

Following longer than anticipated design and procurement timeframes, the playspace equipment is now being manufactured off-site and construction will begin in February 2024.

The nearest alternative playspaces during this time will be:

  • Robinson Park, Glenbrook Street, Jamisontown
  • Tench Reserve North and South, Tench Avenue, Jamisontown
  • Jamison Park (playspace is located on Batt Street), South Penrith
