Parker Street Reserve upgrades continue

25 May 2026

Work has begun on the refurbishment of the amenities building and storage room which service the lower sportsground at Parker Street Reserve in Penrith, marking a key milestone in a series of sport and recreation upgrades happening across the precinct.

The amenities building refurbishment includes roof and gutter repairs, improved security, LED lighting, refurbished toilets, repainting of the interiors and flooring repairs. The storage building is to receive roof and gutter repairs, LED lighting and security upgrades.

Work to upgrade the playspace is also anticipated to begin mid-year, delivering a modern and inclusive playspace for families.

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the project will deliver important upgrades to a well-loved sporting precinct.

Parker Street Reserve is a vital part of Penrith’s sporting community. In 2023, we delivered major upgrades including a new amenities building on the upper fields, LED floodlighting, improved rugby league fields and new irrigation and fencing,” Cr Carney said.

This year, Council has funded early works that have delivered drainage improvements to the upper sports fields to improve playing conditions. We have also completed asbestos remediation and landscaping near the main amenities building with funding from the NSW Government.

“This next stage will build on the previous upgrades, providing local families with a new playspace for children of all ages, alongside refurbished amenities that will improve the reserve for the whole community.”

Further upgrades are planned, with improvements to the car parking area anticipated to begin later this year.

The upgrade of Parker Street Reserve is funded through the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.

Member for Penrith Karen McKeown OAM MP welcomed the progress of works at Parker Street Reserve, saying the upgrades will deliver long-term benefits for the community.

“Work has begun at Parker Street Reserve, marking an important step in delivering improved amenities and a more inclusive space for our Penrith community.

“These upgrades will support local families and sporting groups for years to come.”
