Council is upgrading the playspace in Londonderry Park with new equipment, seating, shade, landscaping, and more!

This upgrade is being funded by Penrith City Council in association with the NSW Government's Local Small Commitments Allocation program.

Construction has begun!

Construction is underway and expected to be completed by late February 2026. Check out the final design of the new playspace which includes:

  • Tennis court resurfacing and fencing
  • New playspace equipment, including a double-bay swing set, multi-level play tower, inclusive rocker, multi-user spinner, a boulder climbing feature for older children and junior play unit and waterplay for younger children.
  • Partial fencing around playspace
  • Dalmarri Indigenous artwork on selected equipment
  • A relocated shade sail
  • New seating and a picnic shelter
  • Accessible pathways
  • A drinking fountain

New location for upgraded playspace

The existing playground will remain open for most of the works, including the summer school holidays. It will be removed later in the construction period as the new playspace approaches completion.

The new playspace will be located in a different area to the existing playspace. This change allows us to better connect the playspace with the tennis courts and make the most of the available space for play equipment and activities.

Once the existing playground is removed, the area will be restored and turfed.

Community consultation

We conducted community consultation from Friday 17 May until Tuesday 18 June 2024, to find out what the community would like to see in their new playspace. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback! Your ideas will be valuable to help us shape the design for this playspace.
