Penrith City Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to officially name an unnamed reserve in Jordan Springs in recognition of former Penrith Mayor Kevin Crameri OAM. Kevin Crameri was a longstanding advocate for the Penrith community through his service in Local Government, emergency services and community organisations.
Alternative names are not being sought as part of this consultation.
Why is the name proposed?
Kevin Crameri OAM was a longstanding Penrith City Councillor and dedicated community advocate, first elected to Council in 1974. He served as Mayor from 1996–1997 and 2009–2011, and Deputy Mayor from 1988–1989, representing the community for decades.
A proud Llandilo resident from the age of six, Kevin was a passionate advocate for Penrith’s rural communities and championed equitable access to services, infrastructure and opportunities. He played a significant role in securing the Penrith Whitewater Stadium for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, which continues to be a major tourism and recreation facility.
Kevin was also committed to community safety and environmental protection, advocating for floodplain management, road safety, drainage and weed control. Beyond Council, he devoted more than 60 years to the Llandilo Rural Fire Brigade, including 14 years as Deputy Captain and contributed to numerous community organisations. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1999 and the Centenary Medal in recognition of his service.
