Kingswood Park residents will soon have a new playspace to enjoy, with the final design for the Illawong and Kareela Avenue Reserve playspace upgrade revealed.

Two draft design concepts were shared with the community for feedback in September 2022, with 82% of respondents favouring the selected design concept which features a multi-play unit with two slides, climbing equipment and play shop front.

Students from Kingswood Park Public School took part in a workshop to share their ideas for the upgrade. The existing swings proved to be a popular piece of equipment, along with the open space at the end of the reserve, which is used for ball sports and other games. We will be installing three new swings, including a basket swing, and the open space will be retained for students to enjoy.

The yarning circle will remain to maintain a sense of place and belonging. A turtle rocker, new fencing, picnic table, seating and pathways will also be installed as part of the upgrade.

Construction is now due to begin in September 2023.
