In July 2023, Penrith City Council invited traditional owners/custodians and knowledge holders to submit an EOI to join Council's list of Registered Aboriginal Parties. Council intends to share the list with proponents who engage Council seeking support to understand cultural heritage matters unique to Penrith. This may include determining the significance of Aboriginal objects and/or places in the Penrith Local Government Area (LGA).
Council is also keen to engage with Registered Aboriginal Parties with regard to the review being undertaken of Council’s Statement of Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ways to respectfully recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and connection to Country.
