Final design for Dorothy Radford Reserve playspace revealed

render of Dorothy Radford Reserve playspace upgrade

The final design for an exciting upgrade of the playspace in Dorothy Radford Reserve, St Clair, is complete.

Council consulted with the community to find out what they’d like to see in their new playspace and used this feedback to develop the design.

We heard that the community wants a range of modern play equipment with a focus on climbing, swinging, sliding and spinning equipment, as well as sensory play and inclusive items.

In response to this feedback, the design features:

  • a multi-play unit for older children with a slide and climbing ropes.
  • toddler play unit with a slide, mini climbing features and play shop front.
  • swing set with an all-abilities harness swing, basket swing and toddler swing.
  • two rockers including an accessible rocker.
  • talk tube and sensory play orbs.

We’ve also included a bike path around the playspace with play road signs and a petrol pump.

Shade, pathways and seating are important to the community, so we’ve included a shaded picnic table, bench seating, new pathway leading to the playspace, drinking fountain, and we will retain the existing shade sails.

Construction is due to begin next week.
