February 2024 Update

12 February 2024

Last year the Australian Government announced an Independent Strategic Review of projects funded through the Infrastructure Investment Program. This review included the Coreen Avenue Intersection Upgrades.

The review determined the Coreen Avenue Intersection Upgrades are an essential infrastructure investment, and the project remains fully funded by the Australian Government and will be delivered by Penrith City Council.

While the review was underway, the project was largely placed on hold, which has impacted on the delivery timeframe. Construction is now expected to start in late 2024 and is expected to be complete in 2026 (weather dependent).

Next Steps

A detailed design for the intersection upgrades is underway. This work is being informed by the community feedback gathered during consultation and updated traffic modelling. Once complete, the detailed design will be shared with the community.
