Join the Youth-Led Action Plan Leadership Team!

We’re excited to invite young people to join the Youth-Led Action Plan Leadership Team! If you’re aged 15-20 and want to help shape the future of youth engagement in Penrith, this is your chance. As a team member, you’ll share your ideas, join workshops, and help with the 2025-2030 Youth-Led Action Pan consultation. Your Voice , Your Future, Your Plan.

About the Project

The Youth-Led Action Plan – “Your Voice, Your Future, Your Plan” wants young people from different backgrounds to join the 2025-2030 consultation process. As part of the team, you’ll help plan and run activities like events, social media campaigns, and outreach to young people. You’ll also help create and carry out projects that support the well-being and connection of young people in Penrith.

Everything you need to know

We want young people who:

  • Care about connecting young people and community involvement
  • Want to create and run projects for young people
  • Can attend regular meetings, workshops, and events
  • Are ready to share ideas, get feedback from friends, and be active in the team
  • Have different skills and backgrounds and want to learn new things
  • As a team member, you’ll:

  • Join training workshops on consulting and developing engagement questions
  • Help plan and run activities like social media campaigns and pop-up events
  • Give feedback on engagement methods and results
  • Work with other team members to keep the project youth-led
    • You’ll need to join a certain number of workshops and activities – training can be provided at school within school hours or off site after school.
    • You'll get recognition for your work, like certificates, references, and possibly voucher.
    • You can also get vocational training opportunities, like micro-credentials with TAFE

    If you’re at school and under 18 years of age, you’ll need to have to have permission from your parent / guardian.

    If you are a student, attend a youth service, or volunteer, you will need to get the endorsement of a relevant contact person for your expression of interest. We may contact this person for a reference.

  • Your application will be reviewed by a selection panel.
  • If you are shortlisted, you might be invited to a brief interview or group session.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by early March, with the first meeting planned shortly after.
  • To apply, fill out the attached Expression of Interest (EOI) form, including:

    • Personal Information: Name, age, school/organization, and contact details
    • Statement of Interest: Explain why you want to be part of the Leadership Team and what you hope to contribute
    • Endorsement: Get your application endorsed by a service provider, school representative, or youth worker
    • Commitment Agreement: Confirm your availability to attend workshops, meetings, and events
