The Penrith Local Government Area (LGA) is home to a vibrant and growing diverse community.

We acknowledge and celebrate that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are diverse in language and culture and have lived in this land since time immemorial. Together they speak over 250 languages. By creating this Plan, we hope to build a strong, cohesive and connected Penrith that embraces the positive continuity of multicultural and multilingual diversity that our newcomers bring.

Our diverse community

Penrith City Council recognises that a diverse and inclusive community is a more resilient community and we are committed to continuing to foster a City where everyone belongs, where diversity is celebrated and becomes our strength. To do this we are developing a Multicultural Action Plan 2024-2027. The Plan will guide our work to support, celebrate and promote the value of cultural diversity in Penrith.

The experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse people, women, young people, people who live with disability, LGBTIQA+, First Nations, family members, friends, supporters and service providers are essential to this work. Your insights will inform our actions to make sure we meet the community’s needs.

Have your say

Thank you to everyone who shared their vision and priorities for Penrith City Council's Multicultural Action Plan 2024-2027 by providing responses to the questions below.

  • What makes you feel welcome and included in Penrith City?
  • How can Council and the community better support our culturally diverse community?
  • Your ideas for the Multicultural Action Plan.

What happens next?

We’ll review all feedback provided by the community, service providers and Council staff. These insights will be combined with the latest community profiles to prepare a draft Multicultural Action Plan. There will be an opportunity for the community and service providers to review the draft before it is adopted by Council in January 2024.
